Frequently asked questions.
General.
Do you only look after clients in Melbourne?
We work nationally and internationally. With modern technology, the Finsync small business bookkeeping team can service clients all over the globe. Our specialty is Australian businesses but we can assist your business and meet your needs wherever you are.
What types of businesses do you work with?
Finsync generally works with clients with simple business models and structures. We work with small businesses ranging from solo entrepreneurs to emerging enterprises with 10+ employees across trades, IT, legal, medical, consulting, and freelance. If you’re self-employed, registered for GST, have 2-5 staff, and operate in a service-based industry, you’re the perfect fit for us.
What technology and systems does Finsync use?
Our preference is to set up our clients on best-in-class accounting software with Xero or MYOB. If you already use one of these systems, you’re ahead of the game. We’re official partners of these platforms and have the training and experience to make them work for you. Finsync understands that businesses and industries can have their unique software requirements, and we’re happy to work with your needs; just let us know in your consultation with us.
How do I provide you with information?
We like to make things as quick and efficient as possible, so we operate a paperless office and prefer to communicate electronically on day-to-day matters. As a client, you’ll get access to a secure link for storing documents and accessing all reports. We also encourage and support you in using tools to simplify life, such as DEXT to upload your invoices and receipts.
My business operates a little differently from the norm -can you still help?
We sure can. We’ll sit down with you to understand your goals, and if you need something different from our standardised packages, we will be more than happy to tailor a solution that suits you.
If any additional project work is needed we will scope, define, and provide an hourly rate quote before getting started.
Fees and costs.
How much does it cost to work with Finsync?
Our packages start at $299 per month. We have purposely designed and priced our packages to keep costs to your business as affordable as possible. Each package is flexible and tailored to meet the specific needs of your business.
If any additional project work is needed we will scope, define, and provide an hourly rate quote before getting started. Once agreed, the work commences and is delivered using timesheets and milestones to keep you updated.
How do I pay for Finsync?
Clients pay via direct debit. We will provide you with detailed information about your package fee, inclusions, and services as part of the engagement process. Once the engagement commences, we will directly debit the monthly package fee—and any other agreed fees—on the monthly anniversary.
Is my accounting software included in my monthly fee?
No, your monthly fees with Finsync do not include software licensing.
BAS.
Why use a BAS Agent?
A registered BAS Agent has obtained an appropriate level of education and industry experience, is registered with the Tax Practitioners Board and must submit to regular reviews, training, and education to ensure they maintain a minimum standard of knowledge and skills. In short, they know their stuff. Having a registered BAS Agent work with your business will keep you compliant and is far less risky than doing your BAS independently.
Bookkeeping.
Why do I need a Melbourne Bookkeeper?
Managing a business is complex and managing your financial responsibilities is time-consuming. As a business owner, you need to consider your compliance obligations, changes in government incentives and grants, payroll legislation, not to mention the management and upkeep of expenses, supplier payments and debtors.
The time and effort needed to manage these obligations are outsourced to Finsync. Finsync free up your headspace to concentrate on what you do best, running your business. Finsync gives you back the one thing that everyone craves, time.
Bookkeeper vs Accountant— what’s the difference?
Bookkeepers manage your business’s day-to-day transactions; they make sure invoices and sales are processed promptly, they balance your bank accounts, and they keep suppliers and employees paid on time.
Bookkeepers don’t provide advice on taxation matters or business structures. Finsync suggests you need an accountant for this. Accountants are strategic business partners, whereas Bookkeepers are an extension of your operations.
My books are a mess, can you help?
Yes, we can. If you’re behind in your obligations, your accounts aren’t up to date, or you have neglected your bookkeeping. Finsync will work with you and your accountant to get you back on track. We believe in total transparency and openness, so we’ll let you know the extent of the work required to bring your accounts up to date, along with any additional costs, before we kick-off.
